Sampling instruction - eDNA

Analysis

A-3p eDNA of japanese knotweed and giant knotweed in soil

Equipment

  • suitable tool – eg metal spoons, disposable wooden spoons, planterspade
  • 250 ml plastic jar or zip bag (can be ordered from ALS)
  • cooler bag with ice packs (can be ordered from ALS)
  • if necessary: water or wet wipes

Sampling

  • IMPORTANT! Use a new spoon or clean tools between sampling.
  • Sampling is suitable for both undisturbed and excavated soil.
  • Take several samples if the suspect area is more than one square meter or consists of excavation masses. We recommend a maximum of 5 m between sample points and avoidance of collective samples in larger areas.
  • Soil from 0-10 cm deep is recommended whenever possible.
  • Transfer soil to a 250ml jar or zip bag. A couple of spoons per sample is enough (20-100 grams).
  • Put samples in cooler bag with ice packs and completed order form.
